Introduction To Chi-Kung
1. The brief history of Chi Kung in China.
2. What is Chi Kung?
3. What are the advantages of practicing Chi Kung?
4. What kind of people can practice Chi Kung while what kind of People
can not?
5. How to use this e-book to learn Chi Kung?
6. Why Chi Kung can heal chronic diseases?
1. The brief history of Chi Kung in China:
The history of Chi Kung can be traced back to about five thousand years
ago in China. Since there were emperors ruling over the country
claiming to be the Son of the Sky (天子, a traditional
concept that was used to fool the common people, Sky in ancient time in
China sometimes is equivalent to God, the emperors wanted the people to
believe that they were authorized by God to rule over, so listen and
obey at all time, no question asked) who loved the power, glory,
position and privilege so much that they wanted immortality.
People of knowledge tried very hard to satisfy their emperor. Roughly
speaking, there were two groups of people studying this, the first
group tended to use medicine, it ended up that eleven emperors in
Chinese history have been poisoned to death by this so called
Immortality Medicine.
The second group found that the best medicine had been existing in our
bodies already, which were born with. Our job is to cultivate it, make
it stronger and accumulate it to a certain part of the body and make
use of it. People practice this tends to live longer according to
statistics but not yet be immortal. This kind of exercises is called
Chi Kung to-day.
2. What is Chi Kung?
In China, it is called Chi, in Japan it is called Ki, have you ever
heard of Aikido? In India, it is called Purana, ask the Yoka people,In
Philippine, it is called Mana, in Europe, it is called Aura. There are
about 30 names for about the same thing. You see, in human history, not
only Chinese struggled to find out the secret of Chi. Around the world
in the past, people sensed that there was something you couldnt see,
didnt know what color, how heavy, what smell, closely related to our
bodies and lives did exist.
In this book, I try to explain everything from the point of view of a
scientist, so you can understand and handle it easily. Im not going to
use those abstract, fancy, classic, difficult Chinese terminologies.
Therefore I choose a term which is more substantial in the Western
World to describe it. You can temporarily put it equal to
bio-electricity for the time being (actually it is more than that).
Our bodies are conductors, electricity can pass through. You know some
eel can produce electricity, so do our bodies. But why we dont feel it,
the reason is that the electricity we produce is too weak to be
detected. But, in some special situation, the famous Chinese scientist,
the father of missile of China -------- Dr. Chin Hoc Sum (
中國飛彈之父
錢學森 博士 ) called it The Chi Kung
Situation, we can feel it. This e-book teaches us how to practice to
set up this Chi Kung Situation so that we can feel this bio-electricity
and accumulate it to become stronger and stronger, finally it circulate
along the meridians driven by or led by our Intent 意 .
Kung (功) in Chinese means exercise or function or work
sometimes. This means that we have to work for it. We reap what we sow.
3. What are the advantages of practicing Chi Kung?
A. Chi Kung can improve health, both mentally and physically, no doubt
about it according to Chinese history and now countless living
examples in China, go to the hospitals, you will see the nurse
leads the patients to practice Chi Kung, some of them are cancer
patients who were told by their Western doctors that they would die
in a few months but get recovered completely like miracles.
B. It is probably the most economical way. You dont need a lot of
equipments, a specific playground or field like soccer or basket
ball, you dont need even a ball. Any place enough to sit or stand
with good ventilation and quiet is good enough, you may have to pay
some tuition to learn from a Sifu (teacher or master), but after
that, you can go home and practice alone, never pay the Sifu
anymore.
C. You can practice within your own schedule, even though there are
some recommended times to practice more effectively but no
obligation. You dont need a partner, anytime you like, just do it!
D. There is no restriction of sex, age, any normal person, weak or
strong, even sick, lying on bed , can practice ( they can practice
the sleeping Chi Kung ).
E. There is no contradiction between Chi Kung and modern therapy.
When you take pills, under the prescription from your family doctor,
that is chemical reaction trying to help.
When you practice Chi Kung, that is an exercise to strengthen your
self-healing system (including immune system and some other things)
trying to help. There is no chemical reaction, therefore no
interaction. Just on the contrary, Chi Kung helps you to recover
quicker.
Chi Kung can heal those hidden troubles, brewing inside your
body, about to make you sick, you go to the doctor, the doctor
checks and then says it is your psychological effect! No
sickness.
But you feel uncomfortable inside somewhere, hard to tell, this
is
What Chinese physicians call Inharmoniousness between Yin &
Yang, not flowing fluently with Chi. Come and learn Chi Kung,
You will understand. Remember Chinese therapy has been there
for more than five thousand years already.
4. What kind of people can practice Chi Kung and what kind of People
can not?
Any normal people can practice Chi Kung regardless of their ages,
sexes, weak or strong, except those who are mentally sick, or they have
close relatives such as brother or sister who has been sent to mental
house because they might have dormant DNA which can be reactivated or
revived by Chi Kung to cause the specific mental trouble.
5. How to use this e-book to learn Chi Kung?
This e-book was actually my notes when I taught Chi Kung
several years ago in Canada. Each lesson is for one weeks
work, you need normally three months to establish what you want.
Study lesson one and follow the instruction to practice everyday in
the first week, then study lesson two, at the eighth day, do what you
should do in lesson two first ------ i.e. warm up, then come back to do
meditations in lesson one, then finish with On Chiang Ping Chi. You can
see, those exercise are being done accumulatively, notice the order,
dont miss any one unless you are told to do so. In lesson three, also,
understand why before you go on, this gives you confidence, when you
are confident, it is easier to go into Chi Kung situation.
If you cant achieve what you should achieve, dont go to the next
lesson. Practice until you can do as required before you go any
further. Three months are for average people, some people may need more
time.
Perseverance is important in the first three months; you must do it
continuously until you can make it. Otherwise the Chi will be gone.
Once you can make the Chi to circulate along the Ren and Du Meridians.
You should continue to do it for another three months to stabilize it.
Then you can be a little bit lazier, the foundation is good enough so
that even though you stop doing it for a period of time, once you
concentrate, the Chi starts to come back. In the past, because the
attitude is not scientific enough, people had to spend around two years
to accomplish the same result. But you are supposed to do it for life
time in order to live long.
6. Why Chi Kung can heal chronic diseases?
Reasons to heal chronic disease:
1. Beneficial control to give the brain a chance to re-regulate or
recuperate those functions which are deviated a little:
In Hong Kong, when the new air port had been built, they moved from Kai
Tak Airport (the old airport) to the new international airport
immediately to start work in order to celebrate the reunion of Hong
Kong to China in 1997, may be it was too hurry, everything was in a
mess after the ceremony, so the Hong Kong Government decided to stop
receiving orders from outside, that is to say, no passenger
transportation, no cargo transportation so to give a small group of
computer experts a chance ( a certain period of time without
disturbance from outside, at this time, the air port was under a
special situation, no body worked except a small group of experts ) to
re-regulate the computer system, put everything back to the normal
track. Then, they started receiving order from outside again as normal.
In practicing Chi Kung, the same reason, we put the body into a special
situation, in this situation, no disturbance from the outside, that is
to say, you concentrate so much that you hear nothing, see nothing,
smell nothing, now the brain gets a chance to use its innate function
to re-regulate what is deviated from the normal track and put them back
to the way they are supposed to be. The ordinary people never give the
brain such a chance but the Chi Kung people know that its important,
this is not sleeping, in sleeping, every part of the brain nearly stops
working, it is a very special situation in which a certain part of the
brain works very hard while the other parts stop working. That is it!
Makes sense, right? What mystery?
2. Internal massage ---- breathing with the diaphragm:
In Chi Kung practice, we breathe with the diaphragm, the diaphragm
moves up and down and thus cause internal massaging the organs inside
and thus produce secretions which improve digestion and other
metabolisms.
3. Resume those secretions which seem to be dry and thus get back
a part of our youth:
When the chi passes through some glands which seem to stop working when
we become mature, the Chi stimulates those glands which will resume
working to some degree. The declining secretions become active again.
That is why the people who practice Chi Kung constantly look younger
than those who dont usually.
4. Raise the ability of our self-healing systems:
We all know that muscle can be trained to become stronger. Can our
self-healing system (more than immune system, not only against germs)
be trained? The answer is yes, Chi Kung is the exercise to do that.

In the modern way to save ourselves from being sick, there are three
kinds of therapies, namely:
A. Precautionary therapy
This is to reduce the factors that may cause the sickness to
happen. Something can be done beforehand to reduce the chance to
get that disease. For example: hi-blood pressure, if you pay
attention to your diet and do some exercises regularly as a habit, you
may not get hi- blood pressure.
B. Healing therapy
When you have got the disease already, you go to consult the doctor;
the doctor does something about it to get you out of trouble. This is a
healing therapy; something happens during the disease, it may be too
late if you dont let the doctor know on time.
C. Recuperative therapy
In a car accident, you get injured and are sent to the hospital to get
cured up. After that, you feel too weak; some of the functions of your
body have lost. The doctor wants you to do something to resume those
functions. This is Recuperative therapy. Something happens after the
trouble.
Chi Kung can be regarded as one of the precautionary therapies because
Chi Kung trains:
1. Nerve system
2. Secretion system
3. Micro-circulation system
4. Self-healing system
Most people are too lazy to do something about their lives because they
dont have the knowledge to sense the danger or probably paying too much
attention to money and power when they were young. I am O.K., Why I
take the trouble to do those things? What they dont know is if they
dont do those things, they might not be O.K.
There are two kinds of nerves inside our bodies, they are:
1. Zoological nerves- those which control the muscles, you can do what
you want.
2. Vegetative nerves- those which control some automatic physiological
functions, e.g. heart beat, body temperatureetc, which we cant control
usually.
Every body understands the first kind, in the gym we work with the
first kind. What about the second kind? Is there any exercise we can
work with the second kind? Yes, Chi Kung is the one!
Most people believe that they can do nothing with the second kind, but
they are wrong, first try to understand that the second kind can be
divided into two subgroups: i.e.
Vegetative nerves-
(S) and (P) control each other.
When one goes up, the other goes down.
Breath-rate
Heart beat
Blood pressure
Secretion
Saliva
Peristalsis of stomach & intestines

Intent ----breathing ----parasympathetic nerves ----those functions
we cant control in our daily life to go at the good direction.
From the above table ( that is from science ), we can see that the only
thing we can control directly by our intent is breathing, breathing is
something like a bridge connected to both sides, one side we can
control directly, the other side we cant control directly. So, in Chi
Kung practice, we use our intent (意) together with breathing to
make the parasympathetic nerve system exited and press down the
sympathetic nerve system so that the blood pressure decreases, the
heart beat slows down, the secretion increases, the saliva increases,
the peristalsis increases which are all good to our health to balance
going at just the opposite direction due to the mental pressure coming
from the office, the family, the money, the bills ----- etc. That is
Chi Kung. In the common sports they train only the muscles, they can
not train this. In the classic Tai Chi system which is a martial art
system, practitioners were trained both ways, physical and mental, that
is why Tai Chi was regarded as an internal martial art system. The
classic Tai Chi people can fight very skillfully and live long.
To understand Chi Kung better, also notice the following table which
also comes from science. When your body is in Chi Kung situation, your
brain wave will be in the third range, the frequency of which is from 8
to 13 vibrations per second. How to do it? Start from Lesson One.

About the Author
Sifu (Chinese term which means teacher or master) Tommy Cheng
is a legendary man who graduated from The Chinese University of Hong
Kong in 1967, major in Physics and minor in Mathematics, supposed to be
an ordinary middle school teacher.
But he has been trained in Chinese martial arts since
the age of 12 in New Territories of Hong Kong, where there was a
martial art instructor in every village in that era. He thus had the
chance to study Tai Chi, Choi Lee Fat and Hung Fat Kung Fu in the
villages around Pak U middle school when he was a student there, he
also learnt Judo in the university career and Wing Chun, Boxing and
Thai Boxing after graduation from the university.
Furthermore, he was so lucky to come across a monk who
knew the original version of Yangs Tai Chi which can be traced back
directly to the first and the second Yang invincibles in Chinese
Martial Art history and now is probably the only heir who knows the
secret of Yangs Tai Chi.
In 1971, he represented Tai Chi to participate in the
international Kung Fu tournament held in Taiwan, achieved the light
weight combat champion title, defeating people who represented their
countries, coming from Thailand, Vietnam, Taiwan, Macau, Hong Kong,
Singapore, Malaysia, Philippine and Japan and took the light-welter
weight champion title of boxing of Hong Kong again in 1972. From then
on, he was invited to be an actor and action choreographer in Kung Fu
movies for about 20 years where he became a close friend of Bruce Lee.
At that period of time, he was also selected as:
The Chief Kung Fu Instructor in The Chinese University of Hong Kong for
about 10 years.Member of The Development Committee of Chinese Martial
Art Association of Hong Kong.Chief ofExhibition and Competition
Department of the World Wide Choi Lee Fat Martial Art Association.
He was also the first man in Asia to extinguish the candle flame with a
two fingers thrust without touching the candle which he demonstrated in
front of 12 thousands audience in the National Stadium of Malaysia in
Kuala Lumpur where the third South-Eastern Asia Kung Fu Tournament was
taking place and he was invited as an honorable guest of demonstration
and international judge in 1973.
In 1974, he demonstrated Chinese Martial Art in Japanese TV Station (
one of the Chinese Martial Art masters who first did this and was
accepted by Japanese people in that era ) for the promotion of the
movie The Martial Art which was the second Kung Fu film entering the
Japanese market after Bruce Lees Enter The Dragon.
The same year, he led a Kung Fu troupe to exhibit Chinese Martial Art
in England and Spain for two months and shocked Europe a lot. At that
time, Kung Fu was still mysterious to the western world and Bruce Lee
just passed away.
Sifu Tommy condensed what he has learnt in 18 years and the result of
50 years research and teaching into a 5 years course and named it Yee
Chuen Do, the curriculum of which can be practiced in a safe and happy
way, very good for health and longevity and yet very effective in
self-defense. The Chi Kung lesson here is a part of Yee Chuen Do, which
was handed down by the monk.

Heads up: There's an ongoing spamdexing of Google searchbot algorithms. Sites that are 'copies of copies' and cloaked sites which include Zorgium keywords presented to search engine crawlers yet garbage content presented to human visitors were hosted on thousands of IP addresses and domains registered immediately after the introduction of Zorgium in November of 2009. The Hostgator/'The Planet'/Softlayer datacenters in Texas seem to be the epicenter of this activity in conjunction with anonymously registered domains of various TLD's but primarily .info domains at Godaddy which, in our opinion, has some sort of connection to the domains of goldmint.in and goldmint.org. Google has begun to notice this and has begun to lower the ranking of these sites and put our original sites back on top of the search rankings. These actions, as far as we can tell, negatively impact the use of the keyword 'zorgium' as a search term and provided little benefit, if any, to the perpetrators.
